Surfbox – You could easily drive past this small white building across from a field of cows and not notice it. It’s on the main road in Playa Flamingo. The international menu offers dishes from India, Canada, Costa Rica and the Mediterranean. Their food is consistently good. And their service is always great. They have indoor and outside seating.
Sendito Norte in Casa Chameleon – Sendito Norte is in the Casa Chameleon hotel. The grounds offer a 360 view of mountains and the Pacific Ocean. The grounds are stunning and artful with flowers and delicate accents. Their small breakfast menu offers great dishes.
W Hotel – Expensive buffet is worth it for the excellent food, wonderful service and phenomenal view. You can order off the menu if you don’t want a large breakfast, but everything on the buffet is perfection. (W Hotel is inside the Reserva Conchal community.)
Pico – Limited menu and seating, but excellent location right on the beach in Tamarindo.
La Princesa Cafe – Best bagels in Costa Rica. Seriously. The cafe is a stall in an outdoor food court area in Tamarindo, but their bagels are excellent. They also offer healthier options.
Nasu Restaurant at Bahia del Sol – Tables in a grassy courtyard overlooking the beach is a great way to start the day. While their menu items can be hit or miss, they all come with a juice, some fruit and usually a piece of bread. The Gallo Pinto and Ranch Eggs Casserole are always a solid choice. And prices are affordable.
Deli Cafe – The best of Brasalito. Fresh coffees, teas and pastries. Not a lot of traditional hot foods for breakfast, but they make a mean leek quiche and have amazing chicken empañadas.
