Pura Vida

Pura Vida literally translates to ‘Pure Life” in English. But in Costa Rica the term means so much more. It’s used as a greeting, or a farewell, to say “life is great!” But sometimes it might be used sarcastically, as in, the cow that was crossing the road decided to sit down and deliver a calf, so this 10 minute trip will now take hours… Pura Vida!

Embracing the Pura Vida lifestyle comes easier to some. It’s an abbreviated way of saying, “slow down, relax, let your worries go, everything will get done in due time. Let go of the things you can’t control. Enjoy the world around you. Live in the moment that is right now.”
